CARE-project

CARE ... response to used carpet tiles.
An initiative of modulyss® and Vanheede Environment Group..
Life-expired polyamide carpet tiles are sustainably reprocessed into secondary fuel for industrial furnaces. This means that much less fossil fuel is used.
Carpet waste is utilised in this way and converted to green energy so that CO2 emissions are drastically reduced.

Care-project
The facts
1 sqm carpet tiles = 4.5 kg
A small office space:
25 m x 40 m = 1,000 sqm x 4.5 kg = 4,500 kg carpet tiles
Example:
Finance Tower in Brussels: 50,000 sqm x 4.5 kg = 225 ton carpet tiles
The current situation
Every year, in Europe there are 25 million sqm of post-consumer carpet tiles as building waste.
To date, this building waste is dumped or incinerated.
CARE

Valorisation to secondary fuel and raw material for the industry
= Impact on the CO2 emissions.
A closed, traceable system: Sustainable Solution certificate.
Dismanteling

When they are dismantled, the carpet tiles must be separated from all the other
building waste --> sort.
Next, the carpet tiles are stacked on a disposable pallet and packed with shrinking foil.
Logistics

Vanheede provides an efficient and fast service for all European customers who,
via the care project, want to have their used carpet tiles processed.
The processing

Entrance check of the carpet tiles.
Pulverising of the carpet tiles.
Addition of other non-recyclableand chlorine-free high-caloric materials.
Remove impurities.
Remould into pellets.
Reduction CO2 emission
The pellets then find their way to their final destination in industrial ovens as substitute fuel or as a replacement of scarce fossil fuels.
Result: reduction CO2 emissions.
CARE
1,000 sqm valorised carpet tiles = 4.5 tons.
a reduction of 8 tons CO2 emissions.
8 tons CO2 emissions =
annual CO2 emissions of 4 family cars;
planting of 400 trees per year.
Belgium: 4,500 tons carpet tile waste remoulded into pellets =
CO2 emissions of 4,000 family cars per year on the Belgian highways;
8,000 tons CO2 emissions per year.
Sustainable solution certificate

After the sustainable processing of the carpet tiles, one receives the Sustainable Solution certificate from Vanheede Environment Group.
The certificate serves as proof that the carpet tiles have been processed in the most
sustainable way.
Yes we CARE!
Thanks to CARE...
- You prevent carpet tiles from being incinerated or dumped.
- Waste is turned into raw material and fuel (energetic valorisation).
- The consumption of precious fossil fuels is reduced.
- You reduce the CO2 emissions.
