In October 2008, modulyss® became the first European manufacturer to bring an ecological carpet tile to market with a minimum of 70 % recycled material, Econyl70.
The past five years modulyss® launched 5 ecological carpet tile collections. What makes these collections unique is that they combine three environmental parts into one efficient, ecological carpet tile: the face fibre, the primary backing and the secondary backing.
The Econyl70 yarn has been upgraded to Econyl, consisting of 100% recycled material. All the modulyss® eco-tiles are now 100% ecological.

The only carpet tile collections to have one outstanding feature that sets it aside of the competition: a minimum 100% post industrial recycled content face fibre.
The face fibre
Developed by Aquafil.
Aquafil recycles nylon waste from its own and modulyss®’s manufacturing processes to produce Econyl.
It cuts and regrinds this waste and adds auxiliaries to prevent polymer degradation alongside white pigments to ensure suitability of dying.
The primary backing
The primary backing used is manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester (BRE certification).
Colback®SMR primary backing combines the world’s only 100% recycled content fibre and 100% recycled content primary backing.
modulyss® aims to consider the environment at every stage and even uses its own carpet tile waste to provide the eco-products with strength and stability.
The waste from the tile cutting process is shredded and added to the secondary backing, giving it a 10% post-industrial recycled content.
