A Contemporary Workspace for Insight Sheffield Office
For Insight’s Sheffield office, the design approach aimed to reflect both the city’s industrial heritage and the company’s modern, forward-thinking ethos. The goal was to create a distinctive office environment that honoured Sheffield’s steel production legacy, while introducing contemporary design elements to make the space feel innovative and fresh.
With a large, open-plan layout, Maze Workplace faced the challenge of defining circulation paths and managing acoustics in a bustling workspace. Initially, hard flooring was considered, but it quickly became apparent that noise levels would be difficult to control. The decision to use the Artcore soft flooring collection allowed the design team to balance both functionality and aesthetics, softening sound and creating defined, visually engaging areas throughout the office.
This project marked the fourth collaboration between Insight and Maze Workplace, with each office having a unique identity while staying true to the company’s core values. For Sheffield, the rich industrial history of the city inspired the design, integrating subtle references to its heritage in steel production. This connection to the local environment made the office feel not only contemporary but also deeply rooted in its surroundings, creating a sense of place that resonates with employees and visitors alike.
As with all Insight projects, sustainability was a key priority. The design team ensured that materials were chosen with both environmental impact and employee well-being in mind. The flooring, selected for its environmentally responsible production, contributed to the office’s overall sustainability goals, aligning with Insight’s commitment to creating spaces that are both innovative and eco-conscious.
