Interior by Cornelis: A Showroom Evolving Alongside its own Story
In 2015, Interior by Cornelis opened the doors of its home interior store. What started as a space centred around decoration has evolved over the past decade into a full-fledged furniture showroom where bespoke craftsmanship takes centre stage. That shift called for more than an update. It called for a redefinition of space. The showroom needed to reflect what the brand stands for today, bringing together furniture, bespoke solutions and material experience in one clear story.
From separate zones to one cohesive whole
The original showroom consisted of different zones with varying floor finishes: functional, yet fragmented. The new approach embraces cohesion. By covering the entire 450 m² surface with the Meadow collection from the Heritage carpet design concept by modulyss, the visual fragmentation disappears. The space opens up and feels larger, calmer and more consistent. Timeless in appearance, subtle in expression, yet defining the way the space is experienced.
The floor as a foundation
In this project, the floor is not a finishing touch. It is the starting point. Where boundaries were once visible, the new flooring creates a continuous surface that connects everything. Furniture, bespoke elements and material experimentation come together on one calm foundation. Carpet brings more than comfort here. It adds a sense of class. Not through excess, but through balance. Through its ability to support a space without overpowering it. The result is a showroom where products do not compete but strengthen one another.
Designing with material intelligence
The showroom redesign revolved around one clear ambition: showcasing what bespoke craftsmanship can achieve. That ambition translates into a strong focus on materials and techniques. Internal craftsmen were trained in finishes such as Mortex and polished plaster concrete, both of which are now fully integrated into the interior concept. The flooring supports that materiality, not as a statement, but as a constant. A soft surface that softens harder materials and introduces visual calm without removing complexity. It reflects the way modulyss approaches flooring, not as a final layer but as an integral part of the design that structures and strengthens spaces.
Comfort you can feel
In a showroom where experience takes centre stage, comfort plays a crucial role. Carpet makes the difference. Acoustically, it immediately creates calm by absorbing sound and keeping conversations clear. The space feels warmer and more comfortable than environments with hard flooring. Visually, the floor also contributes to the atmosphere. Combined with carefully layered lighting, it creates a warm and welcoming environment that feels both functional and inviting.
Sustainability as part of the conversation
Sustainability plays an increasingly important role in conversations with clients. For Interior by Cornelis, durability was a key focus. The showroom is an intensively used environment, so when the carpet performs well there, it becomes tangible proof for the end customer. Choosing modulyss supports that story, with attention to materials, production processes and a lower environmental footprint.
A space that convinces
The reactions from visitors confirm the design choices. The showroom feels more spacious, calmer and more balanced. Clients notice how everything flows together and how the space invites them to stay longer and explore. The carpet has already inspired a new office project directly from the showroom experience itself.
Added value, without the noise
What does modulyss add to this project? Added value. Not as an extra layer, but as a foundation. A floor that brings the space together, slows movement down and strengthens the entire experience.
